God could not love you any more than he does right now. There is absolutely nothing you could do to make Him love you any more and there is nothing you could do to make Him love you any less. Our salvation and acceptance in the sight of God is NOT based on what we do; it is based on what Jesus Christ has already done. Our enemy, Satan, doesn’t want us to know that. He wants us running around like a chicken with no head trying to earn his love and earn his acceptance and constantly comparing ourselves with others instead of just living FROM the amazing truth that IN CHRIST we are already accepted because of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:26-27, “for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
If you are in Christ when God looks at you he sees you clothed with his Son. Here is what that means…Jesus perfect life, his perfect obedience to the will of the Father, his perfect righteousness is given to us. 2 Corinthians 5:21, “God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in him.” It is overwhelming to think of that kind of love. God could not love Jesus any more and since you are clothed in Christ, he could not love you any more either. No amount of obedience, as important as that is, could make God love you more. Let’s be honest…you and I cannot and never will be as faithful as Jesus was. All of our efforts fail in comparison to his. But when I am in Christ, all of his goodness, all of his faithfulness is credited to me. AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND!
I think the church has forgotten how powerful this love is. So many churches are trying to motivate from guilt rather than from the truth of this overwhelming love. Guilt is NOT a long-term motivator…love is. Love serves. Love moves not because it must, but because it desires to do so. To quote Bob Goff, “Love Does.”
God could not love you any more than he does right now. Let that truth be the motivation for everything you do. His acceptance is not dependent on your perfect obedience…it is given to you as a gift. Jesus perfect obedience is yours in Christ. You don’t have to earn God’s love you already have it. “Praise be to God for his indescribable gift.”
