Moving Beyond COVID-19
As you know, the United States has made great strides in the last few months to take control of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 hospitalizations, deaths and infection rates continue to fall. Just this week it has been reported that almost 50% of Americans have been fully vaccinated.
The elders appreciate what everyone did to lessen the spread of COVID-19, particularly within our congregation.
Effective immediately we plan to rescind our COVID-19 policy except for two areas:
- No self-serve lines will be allowed when meals are being served. The food must be served only by designated servers .
- The way we currently distribute communion will not change. We do not plan to pass trays for communion or contribution.
As we have learned with this pandemic, personal responsibility has played a big roll in the mitigation of this illness. Good hand washing and staying home when you are ill or think you are becoming ill will help prevent a resurgence of COVID-19 or other contagious illnesses.
We realize that for a number of reasons some people may not be able to return to worship yet, may need to continue wearing masks or may have reasons not to be vaccinated. We urge everyone to respect each other’s needs and choices.
Again, thank you for all you have done this last 15 months. Let us all move forward together to be stronger salt and light to a world in desperate need.
